"Casket Junkie"

WOD:

Deadlift 5x3

Top Load: 305-lbs. (PR)

Coming off a rest day I felt good & rested this morning. Jerry had us go through 4-rds. of a group warmup that consisted of: 30-secs. L-Sit Holds (I did these on rings), 30-secs. of Bootstrappers (LtCol Dan calls these "Monkeyf*ckers" - why is beyond me... Must be a Marine Corps thing), and 30-secs. of Double Unders. This helped loosen up the joints, and warmed up the glutes, hams, and abs. It was good stuff because c'mon let's face it, it's hard to get ye ole motor going at 0515 in the morning!

I'm glad to report that my deadlift form is coming along. I'm getting tension on the bar and driving through the back of my heels, I just need to work on the nuances a little more, i.e. lengthening that spine, bringing that chest up, and pinching those shoulder blades together. Maybe I'm not understanding the cues and what needs to happen physically in order to attain the proper lifting form.

I felt pretty strong today, 305x3 went up fairly easy (save for seeing some stars but that's natural) and I could've went for 315x3 but Coach said form was degrading so I called it based on his advice, I mean he is the coach.

P.S. I'm thinking about moving my workout log (aka my "klog") to Tumblr (http://www.tumblr.com). Let me know what you think!
