CRUSHED!

WOD:

5-RFT.

400m Run
9 OHS (115-lbs.)
9 Pullups (Chest-2-Bar)

Time: 27:00

So... today, June 1st, is officially the start of my 5th month of CrossFit. Looking back it's been a long, arduous journey but a rewarding one nonetheless. I can remember my first CrossFit "FUN-damentals" WOD of 3 rounds - 200m Row, 20 KB Swings (26-lbs.), and 20 Jumping Slamballs and barely being able to breathe let alone contemplate ways of ending my miserable existence. I remember thinking "How in the EFF!?! do these people do 20 kipping pullups when I can't even do ONE!" At that time the very thought of a Muscle-Up seemed like something performed by circus freaks & 4-year old gymnastic prodigies. I remember trying to Power Clean 135-lbs. and almost pooping myself (not really) but it sure was close. A lot has changed though since then though - PR's a plenty, getting bigger, stronger, faster, leaner, meaner; it's been a crazy 4-months.

The thing about CrossFit is that if it thinks you've tasted a little too much of the glory it's always there to bring you back to reality. Case and point - I PR'ed a bodyweight OHS last week which was friggin' fantastic for me, and a real confidence booster. Then I finally went sub 10-minutes on my 30 muscle-ups, then PR'ed doing Back Squats on Saturday. Needless to say I felt like I was in the friggin' "zone!"

Then came today...

It might as well have been day one. 400m Run? Crushed me. Overhead squats? Crushed me. Pullups? Crushed me. 27-minutes, and 5-rounds later I felt like a newborn giraffe stumbling around on wobbly legs trying to get the afterbirth out of it's eyes.

God, I love CrossFit.
