WOD:
Deadlift 5x1
Top Load: 365-lbs. [PR] /385-lbs. 3x Fail
Man oh man! I have so many thoughts running through my brain right now I don't even know where to start. Let's just start from the beginning shall we?
Yesterday I took a break from CrossFit just cause I was pretty much ravaged by last week's WODs, i.e. L-Sit Pullups, Push Presses, Toes-to-Bar, Back Squats, and Saturday's week ending "chipper." I was pretty much toast so I used the rest of Saturday, Sunday, and Monday to recover and get prim & proper for upcoming week. Yesterday I ate really well, and went to bed early (9:30 p.m.) just so I could be totally rested for this morning's deadlifts.
When I woke up this morning man did I feel good, so I grabbed my apple, cheese, almond butter, & water bottle and high tailed it off to the box this morning. We on Team 0515 warmed up with some L-Sit Holds, Bootstrappers, and KB Swings just to get the blood flowing then it was showtime!
My previous PR was 345-lbs. and I had a goal weight in mind for this morning. This time around though I opted to change my strategy by doing only one rep of lower weights and ramping up faster than last time. The strategy paid off and I pulled 365-lbs. for a PR of 20-lbs. fairly easy. I was gonna go for 375-lbs. but thanks to some encouragement I decided to go hard and shoot for 385-lbs!
I was pretty excited about the PR, I was also stoked that 365 came up as easily as it did. 385 seemed to be the magic number this morning but alas, it was not to be. I tried three times and each subsequent attempt got worse in form & technique. I don't know if it was a mental thing but I wasn't remembering my cues and my execution just wasn't there like it had been on previous lifts.
385-lbs. will be mine, I'm coming for it! Then? Off to 400-lbs.

Great work this morning! do you realize you were shooting for a 40lb PR??? Way to just go for it. I think 0515 needs a little more moto to just go heavy or go home...I think we suffer in that sometimes but just cuz it is so damn early!!!
psyched you went for that big # Sean; it's in your head now and 400 is as well!!
faster is def better... I've learned to make larger jumps at weights I know I can handle and then ramp slower as I get heavier. Glad it worked for you. A 40lb PR is pretty huge dude... 20 is still pretty damned impressive though...
Thanks for the encouragement guys, you're the best!
Great work Sean, not everyone can be like me and get a 30# PR ;)
Seriously though, race to 400!!
@Adam: it's ON like DONKEY KONG!
