WOD:
Snatch 5x1
Top Load: 145-lbs. (PR)
I promise that my personal experience & take on this past weekends Mid-Atlantic Hopper Challenge is coming, I have a lot of thoughts that need sorting out and I know bloggins' been slim - but I promise it's on the way.
So yes... the snatch. Something that I was unable to complete as RX'd in the final chipper with a weight of 135-lbs at the Hopper. I figured it's time to get serious about certain movements that completely embarrass me and the snatch is one of them. I actually hit up CFOT twice because my early morning snatch session @ 0515 didn't go so well. I just couldn't put anything together and frustration set in only making things worse. I had planned on taking a half day so I told Jerry that I'd be snatching again @ 1230 and that's when things started to "click." With Jerry's & Melissa's cues ringing in my mind I was able to accomplish getting tension pulling off the floor, getting my knees out of the way, and getting better (not great) hip extension. Throw in some speed & aggression and I was able to pull a PR Snatch!
I'm pretty satisfied with the end result - I walked away from the 0515 snatch session frustrated and came back determined to work out some kinks @ 1230. It was good stuff and now that Jerry has a CFOT Hopper Challenge in the works you know I got something to prove and I look forward to doing so!
