WOD:
Clean & Jerk 5x1
Top Load: 205-lbs. (PR)
I'm super stoked about that PR - I've Cleaned 205-lbs. before, and I've Jerked 205-lbs. before but never together for a complete Clean & Jerk.
Things didn't start off that great though. In the warmups I had a failed clean attempt at 135-lbs. where I didn't even get it to the shoulders, and then I fell over backwards after failing to stabilize after squat cleaning 155-lbs. How embarassing! That kind of mentally shook me up but I had certain goals in mind for the day so it was just a matter of continuing to warm up and refocusing. 155, 175, 185, and 200-lbs. came and went fairly well. 205-lbs. was a different story though. I missed 205-lbs. twice on the Jerk portion: once I didn't even have my left arm extended at all, and once where the Jerk was waaaay out in front of me. I felt like I had one more attempt in me though! I felt really strong on the heavier cleans this morning as things have been "clicking" in regards to form, technique, and speed (at least I think it's been getting better) so squat cleaning 205 felt strong, I was worried about the jerk portion... but I managed to jerk the weight up and I got under it as fast I could. My footwork was a little shoddy on the recovery but I can work on that next time.
