WOD - "Tabata This!"
(20 seconds of work followed by 10 seconds of rest repeated 8 times) is applied in turn to:
Pullups
Pushups
Squats
Sit-ups
Row
A one minute rotation break between exercises. Each exercise is scored by the least number of reps (calories on the rower) for any of the eight intervals. During the one minute rotation time allowed the clock is not stopped but kept running. The final score is the total of the scores from the five stations.
Total: 40 (FML!)
Okay. This particular blog's title is all sarcasm.
So Tabatas right? The concept seems easy enough to understand... but for some reason said concept didn't seem to register in the brain of yours truly. Maybe my brain was stuck in "Tabata Sellout" mode or I simply wasn't paying attention when Jerry was doling out advice to the n00bs. Whatever the case may be, I should've heeded the n00bly advice.
I started with Pushups. Round One... BAM! 27 pushups. But it was all downhill from there. That set me up for failure on each subsequent movement because my chest and shoulders were fried and I was fatigued like a mofo. I went from 27 to 8 reps of pushups... how horrible is that?
From there everything was about survival. I tried to make up ground on the Air Squats... but to no avail. I tried to maintain some sort of consistency on the Situps... but to no avail. I did alright on the rower with 6 calories but even then it felt like I was rowing for nothing. The pullups were probably the most miserable because by then I was absolutely gassed from the rower and everything was on fire. Literally. I won't discuss my pullup number but somewhere in this post yo've got yourself a good old fashioned world problem. SAT Style!
Soo... this WOD obviously requires gaming and strategy in order to achieve a 50+ score. But I'm curious about something - wasn't there an article floating through the CrossFit community (possible CF Journal?) about Tabatas NOT being about gaming and strategy but rather maintaining intensity through each movement and effort?
Let me know if I'm mistaken or just plain stupid.

Sean - 27 pushups was not the best idea. Guess what - I bet we are gonna do this again in a few weeks.
