WOD - "Mary:"
20-min. AMRAP
5 Handstand Pushups
10 Pistols (5-ea. Leg)
15 Pullups
Total: 10-rds.
Another First Friday benchmark WOD for the books - I've always wanted to do Pistols in a workout and now I can say I have. I was a little apprehensive at first because having not done them before my understanding was that they were a more difficult bodyweight movement. That and if they were indeed harder than expected I was afraid that I wouldn't be able to complete the WOD as prescribed.
Well, I'm glad to say that after hitting a couple in the earlier rounds that boosted my confidence and I was able to motor through fairly well. My HSPU strength is also on the rise - HSPUs came & went and felt pretty good. I think doing "J.T." last month and then hitting last month's "Painstorm" WOD the next day helped immensely in the strength endurance department. Pullups were a little more difficult today just because the arms & legs were smoked from pistols & HSPUs. Those ended being broken into sets of 5 to 7 when the willpower was there.
So that's "Mary" - another notch in my CrossFit bedpost! (Just kidding!)

Did you do the one legged squats with a med ball, or other bail out apparatus? Or just out there?
@Brother Davis: Define "out there." Like "out there" in the middle of the floor with nothing to assist me but failing butt cheeks and will power? Then yes, I was "out there!"
Yeah, that is what I thought. You out there, balancing on one damn leg.
I went another way and did Diane. A nice mix of brutal power and gymnastics smoothness.
By the end, I was doing the HSPUs without the wall. So I was a little out there too.
